I’m an excellent hitter, and singled in my 1st 2 At-Bats in the major leagues. Not sure I can say the same about my pitching.
I had a 4.95 ERA in 42 appearances for the worst team of all-time, the 1962 Mets. I am a former Milwaukee bonus baby.
I became the first hurler ever to hit 2 Homers while hurling a no-hitter when I turned the trick vs. Reds, 6-23-71.
I didn’t equal my father George’s success on the diamond, but did have 2.48 ERA in 41 games with Detroit in 1960. I did graduate from Princeton though.
One of my finest outings came vs. the A’s, 9-8-76. Entering the game in relief in the first inning, I pitched 8 2/3 scoreless frames fanning 8 and scattering 4 safeties (huh?! hits?) as Chisox came from behind to gain victory.
I am a “Rock of Gibralter” behind the plate and enemy runners know just how hard that rock can be. I like to play golf after the baseball season.
